WESTERN NAMES CHIEF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
LAKEWOOD, Colo. –Dawn Roth Lindell was named Chief Information Officer at Western Area Power Administration today by Administrator Mark Gabriel.
Gabriel said, “I am pleased to welcome Dawn to Western. Her experience in people-focused problem solving related to complex utility technology issues will be an asset for Western, especially as we continue to address the critical cybersecurity issues facing our industry. Dawn’s direct experience in the tools to support Western’s Asset Management program will be vital as we continue our process of becoming a more data-driven organization. ”
In her new role as Western’s CIO, Lindell will lead the operation of Western-wide information technology programs. An integral member of Western’s senior management team, she will serve as an advisor to the Administrator and other Western executives on IT issues to improve business procedures and ensure cyber security and critical infrastructure protection. She will assume her new position Nov. 25.
Lindell joins Western from her position as the general manager of IT Services at Colorado Springs Utilities where she led 150 employees focused on every aspect of technology. Colorado Springs Utilities is one of the largest four-service (water, gas, electric and wastewater) utilities in the nation and a Western customer.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame and an Information Systems-focused Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.
Western Area Power Administration annually markets and transmits more than 10,000 megawatts of clean, renewable power from hydroelectric powerplants owned and operated by the Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 15 western and central states. It is part of the Department of Energy.
