FEDERAL AGENCIES OFFERED EASY TOOL TO GO 'GREENER'
LAKEWOOD, Colo.—Federal agencies interested in meeting their renewable energy goals and mandates, improving the environment and supporting national energy security now have until May 10 to submit their interest in joining the 2013 renewable energy certificate (REC) solicitation. The REC solicitation is being issued by the U.S. Department of Energy, Western Area Power Administration and Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP).
Participating in this solicitation is easy: download and complete the Statement of Intent for Federal Agencies to Purchase Renewable Resources (doc) available on the Renewable Resources for Federal Agencies website. Fax or e-mail the completed form to Sandee Peebles at 916-985-1931 or firstname.lastname@example.org no later than May 10, 2013. Western will competitively procure the desired RECs with FEMP covering the administrative cost of the solicitation, a savings that will accrue to the participants. To learn more about this service offered by Western and FEMP, visit the Renewable Resources for Federal Agencies website.
Western and FEMP held a 45-minute webinar covering the key requirements and steps associated with this REC purchase, March 14, 2013. If you missed the event, you can download the webinar to learn about participating in the REC program.
Western Area Power Administration annually markets and transmits more than 10,000 megawatts of clean, renewable power from hydroelectric powerplants owned and operated by the Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 15 western and central states.
